Course Description
This course is based on a webinar hosted by SAMHSA's GAINS Center Center in partnership with Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Training and Technical Assistance (RSAT-TTA) presents ways to incorporate telemedicine into treatment programming for substance use and mental health disorders, including how to expand access to medication-assisted treatment using telemedicine, types of telehealth provider settings, and implementation best practices and barriers. Several program examples are reviewed, including a program using telehealth to improve services to tribal members.

Learning Objectives

You will be introduced to the negative impact of opioid use among those transitioning out of jail/prison

You will learn how medication assisted treatment effects treatment outcomes for the treatment of substance use disorders

You will learn some of the requirements for being able to prescribe medication via telehealth

You will learn which providers are permitted to offer substance use disorder services a the distant site
Requirements
You will be expected to review all materials provided and pass the poset-test with a minimum of 70%, in order to receive your certificate of completion. You will also be required to complete a course evaluation. Once you have satisfactorily completed the post-test and submitted your evaluation, your certificate will be emailed to you.
